Keynote Speaker

ERIK WEIHENMAYER

World-Class Blind Adventurer

Who Is on Your Rope Team?

To succeed in today's economy, it is crucial that your organization has a strong "rope team" to connect your data experts, analysts and decision makers for the purpose of designing and executing revenue-generating strategies. Year-over-year, we bring together technology experts and industry leaders who are pushing the envelope of what is possible with geographic business intelligence solutions. By providing the right data with the right technology to the right people, our customers are solving complex business problems faster and easier than ever before. Our keynote speaker will share with us how connecting your rope team is critical to overcoming any obstacle.

On May 25, 2001, Erik Weihenmayer became the only blind man in history to reach the summit of the world's highest peak - Mount Everest. And on September 5, 2002, when he stood on top of Mount Kosciusko in Australia, Weihenmayer completed his 7-year quest to climb the Seven Summits - the highest mountains on each of the seven continents, joining only 200 mountaineers who have accomplished that feat. At age 33, he was also one of the youngest to accomplish this task. Additionally, Erik has scaled El Capitan, a 3300-foot overhanging rock wall in Yosemite; Losar, a 2600-foot vertical ice waterfall in the Mount Everest region of the Himalayas; and a difficult and rarely climbed rock face on 17,000-foot Mount Kenya. Through his experiences in overcoming obstacles in nature, Erik established No Barriers, a non-profit organization with a goal of promoting innovative ideas, approaches, and assistive technologies. As a result, Erik has made a real impact in helping people with disabilities push through their own personal barriers to live full and active lives.

Successful business leaders rely on their rope teams to connect the right people and the right business partners with the right content and technology solutions to solve challenging business problems. At Extend 2010: Get Connected, Erik will share the importance of having a rope team in the daily struggle to achieve and exceed expectations. As an accomplished adventurer, author and entrepreneur, Erik will educate all attendees on how to build and strengthen their rope teams for scaling what may be considered to be insurmountable obstacles in today's business environment.
